As I said goodbye to you,
not knowing what to expect.
They said it was time to go,
and I wrapped my arms tighter around your neck.
The tears they came with such pain and hurt.
I couldn’t contain them, this is your work.
I stood and waved as your ship went by.
My heart ached so bad!
I felt as part of me had died.
Why were you leaving me?
I knew, but just couldn’t accept.
I’ll be alone tomorrow, and the next, and the next.
I’ll pray for your safety.
And the others as well.
I love you my Sailor.
You make me so proud.
I WILL make it through this.
I’m just waiting for the time.
When I can hug you, and kiss you.
And claim you again as mine…
